President Ratifies amendment to Anti-Human Trafficking Act

President Solih, on 29 March 2020, ratified the first amendment to the Maldives Anti-Human Trafficking Act. 

The amendment brings changes to section 60(b) of the Act – composition of the National Anti-Human Trafficking Steering Committee. Prior to the change, the committee was composed of 14 members and the amendment has reduced that number to 10 members. The current committee will carry out their duties until the new committee is formed, 10 days from the ratification of the first amendment.

The NATSC will carry out the coordination and implementation efforts of the national anti-human trafficking action plan passed by the cabinet on 25 February 2020. The plan is set to come into effect on 30 March 2020.
