The seven and a half hour seminar is designed to give participants an overview of the new Income Tax regime and will cover new concepts introduced under the Act as well as important transitional provisions. The seminar is targeted at large enterprises, tourist resorts, hotels, guesthouses, safari boats, dive and water sports centres, spas, businesses in construction and development, and international and domestic air transport and shipping operators. The topics covered in this seminar will broadly cover the pay-as-you-earn (PAYE) employee withholding tax scheme, the newly introduced capital gains taxation regime, and the new changes to the non-resident withholding tax regime. Enterprises which are currently operating in the Maldives will also benefit from understanding how the transition provisions in the Income Tax Act will impact their enterprise and crucial matters to keep in mind with respect to the preceding tax year, and new rules which will be applicable when conducting transactions in the current tax year.
